Character Name: Flynn Scifo
Series: Tales of Vesperia
Timeline: After Zaude, but before Aurnion
Canon Resource Link: Flynn and General
Character Background: Flynn was born and raised in the Lower Quarter of Zaphias, the capital city of the Empire. During his childhood, he met Yuri Lowell, a kid who constantly got into trouble with the Imperial Knights (and still continues to hassle the Knights). Even when Flynn was young, he had known that the system needed to change. He joined the Imperial Knights, along with Yuri, to try to make things fairer for those who didn’t have connections or money. However, after three months, Yuri left the Knights, leaving Flynn to handle the inside job.

He had talent for the sword, and he rose in the ranks at a fast rate. Flynn was the Captain of his brigade, and most of the people respected him because he, unlike the majority of the Knights, didn’t care for class when he helped others. There was just one problem during this time: the reigning Emperor had taken an illness, and died because of it. After His Majesty’s death, the Council offered up Lady Estellise as a potential candidate, but the Imperial Knights backed Lord Ioder.

Estellise had soon come across an assassination attempt on Flynn’s life, however he was on a Pilgrimage at the time. He was always too far ahead of the group, until he arrived at Capua Nor, or more commonly known as Nor Harbor. There, Flynn was trying to convict the person in charge of Nor Harbor for committing villainous crimes against the people. Unfortunately, he and his brigade would have no chance of getting inside unless they had a warrant, except that they knew Ragou, the man in charge, would hide all of the evidence if that were done. So, Flynn reluctantly used Yuri and his friends to break into the manor, and then the Knights could go in under the guise of helping to catch some people vandalizing Ragou’s home.

The raid was successful, and it was also revealed that Ragou had kidnapped Ioder. Luckily, Yuri and his friends were on the ship that held the Royal Candidate, and were able to save him when it sank. When they were at Torim Harbor to convict Ragou, he was able to slide free by using loopholes, and feigning innocence. Flynn couldn’t do anything to keep the man in jail because he happened to be a Council Member as well. Ioder just lacked authority to have any say in the matter.

After that little incident, Yuri and Flynn parted ways again. They met again in Dahngrest, the city of the guilds. Flynn was there to deliver a message of peace from Ioder, to prevent the Empire and the Guilds from going to war with each other. Unfortunately, someone had given him the wrong letter, and the Guilds saw it as a threat. Flynn was put into the jail, but Yuri switched places with him, allowing him to get the real letter from Ioder to stop the attack. It was a close call, but Flynn managed to deliver Ioder’s letter without loss of life.

With temporary peace between Dahngrest and Zaphias, he left the city for another mission. Flynn appeared again in Nordopolica, another huge Guild city famous for the coliseum. He was there to help out Belius, the leader of Nordopolica, but someone fed the wrong information to Yuri and company. Flynn and Yuri fought in the coliseum as the final match, but it was interrupted when Zagi entered the ring. After he was defeated, others joined in the fight. In the confusion of battle, Yuri and the others left for reasons unknown to Flynn.

They met up again in Nordopolica, but it was after Belius’ death, something caused when Estellise tried to heal her. Flynn was going to prevent them from leaving out of blind obedience, not looking at any of the ulterior motives behind such orders, but Yuri knocked some sense back into him. He allowed them passage, trusting them with whatever they were doing.

Time past, and it was revealed that Alexei was a traitor to the Empire. Flynn had his Knights infiltrate the Heracles, which was a huge battleship the Empire was going to use. Then, when the Heracles was just about to destroy Zaphias with its aer canon, Flynn had his ships ram into the side of the battleship to knock its aim off course. It was successful, but it still caused major damage.

In Zaphias, there was an overabundance of aer, causing both monsters and plant life to go out of control. Flynn wasn’t there at the time, but it was revealed that Alexei wanted to use Estellise’s power for some unknown goal. When he did arrive, he was made the new Commandant. However, Flynn felt that he hadn’t earned that title, since it was with Yuri’s doing that Zaphias was safe. His friend convinced him to accept the position. At this time, Ioder was also the new Emperor.

When Flynn next met up with Yuri, it was at Zaude. They both confronted Alexei, with Flynn asking why he betrayed everyone. He had admired the former Commandant, and greatly respected him. Even with everything that had happened, Flynn wanted to quell any doubts he may have had. Then, when Alexei was just about to fire at Yuri, Flynn pushed his friend out of the way, taking the shot. Yuri went after the traitor, and after the battle on top of Zaude, Flynn’s friend was gone.

Abilites/Special Powers: First Aid: This is the healing power Flynn has. A gold magic circle will surround him, allowing him to heal himself or one other person. For serious injuries, he will need to constantly cast this spell.

Guardian Field: This Arte is a Healing Arte that heals himself and any allies around him simultaneously. At the same time, the attack deals damage to any enemies caught in the field. It hurt/heals three times, usually dealing moderate damage/healing.

Beast: An attack that knocks back the enemy.

Demon Fang: A shockwave sent toward the foe.

Dragon Swarm: An attack that utilizes kicks and downward strikes of a sword, almost resembling a cartwheel (8-hits or less, depending on if he gets interrupted or not).

Sonic Thrust: A thrust that breaks the sound barrier.

Sword Rain: Alpha: Multiple thrusts of a sword in quick succession.

Tiger Blade: An upward swing that knocks the enemy into the air, then the character immediately jumps up to smack the foe down to the ground.

Radiant Dragon Fang: This is Flynn’s Mystic Arte, an Arte that can only be used when he is in Over Limit. It deals massive damage, but he has to wait until he is able to go into Over Limit in order to effectively use it. Constantly attacking him is one way of trying to prevent his use of this Mystic Arte.

((He has other Artes, however I don’t know exactly what the other ones do, so I only listed what I remembered.))
